*You will need espresso coffee machine with a built-in steaming wand ,a stainless steel milk foaming jug (300 ml - which you can buy on our shop for £14.50) and a coffee thermometer to keep the same consistency each time when you steamed your milk (you can also find it on our shop about £9.25).
We will give our measurements according to this assumption that you have these 3 items at home.
CAPPUCCINO
A cappuccino is an espresso based coffee drink which originated in Italy and it is prepared with steamed milk foam. Foam’s consistency depends on the milk’s fat content. For the most shiny velvety, rich cappuccino, use whole milk.
-Use a warm, clean large cup, preferably cappuccino cup
-Select your coffee knob to set required quantity of coffee for double espresso size (2 x shots of coffee 16 gr)
-Fill milk foaming jug about 100 ml of milk at refrigerator temperature (about 4-5°C) for each cappuccino to be made (keep in mind when you steamed your milk, the milk doubles or triples in volume in the jug and use the right size depends on how many cappuccino you are planning to make at once)
-Wait for steaming wand to heat up and then immerse it in the milk container
-Turn on the steam and lower the jug down so that the steam wand is just below the milk surface
-Rest the steam wand against the side of the spout and hold the jug firmly and watch for temperature dial rise to 150°F/65.5°C. The milk will swirl to produce a foam and increase in size.
-When milk reaches 150°F/65.5°C turn off the steam wand and remove jug
-Bang the jug on the counter. This will make air bubbles rise to the top, then swirl the milk in a clockwise movement until shiny.Milk will resemble as shaving foam
-Rest the jug on the lip of the cup and then 'Rock' the milk into the cup, creating a white centre edged with brown.(The Rocking motion produce the best mix of froth and milk into the cup.)
You can sprinkle chocolate powder on top of your cappuccino if you like.
LATTE
Caffe latte is a coffee drink originating in Italy, made with espresso and steamed milk with foam but not rich foam as cappuccino. For the best steamed milk without too much rich foam use skimmed milk, if you don't have it at home whole milk still will do the job.
-Use a warm, clean heat-proof glass
-Select your coffee knob to set required quantity of coffee for single espresso size (1 x shots of coffee 8 gr)
-Fill milk foaming jug about 100 ml of milk at refrigerator temperature (about 4-5°C) for each latte to be made (keep in mind when you steamed your milk, the milk doubles or triples in volume in the jug and use the right size depends on how many lattes you are planning to make at once)
-Don't bang the jug on the counter hard this time like cappuccino instead tap it very gently on the counter to remove any unwanted air bubbles and then gently swirl your milk jug a few times
-Hold the cup in your palm. Begin pouring the milk into the cup from relatively high position. As the volume within the cup increases, bring the jug as close to the surface of the drink and pour into the centre, continue to pour whilst lowering the milk and steepening your pouring angle, once the milk jug is almost touching the surface of the coffee, tilt the jug to speed up the rate of pour then do small circles and accelerate going down cross in the middle. The milk will start creating patterns on the top.
Now you know how to make patterns with latte art on your coffee and you can enjoy your perfect latte.
FLAT WHITE
A flat white is a coffee drink consisting of espresso with steamed milk with small, fine bubbles and velvety consistency. It is smaller in volume to latte and with less foam but higher proportion of coffee to milk so espresso to dominates the flavour.
-Use a warm, clean large cup ,preferably cappuccino cup
-Select your coffee knob to set required quantity of coffee for double espresso size (2 x shots of coffee 16 gr)
-Fill milk foaming jug about 100 ml of milk at refrigerator temperature (about 4-5°C) for each Flat white to be made (keep in mind when you steamed your milk, the milk doubles or triples in volume in the jug and use the right size depends on how many Flat whites you are planning to make at once)
-Wait for steaming wand to heat up and then immerse it in the milk container
-Turn on the steam and steam the milk with steamer attached to the jug. Lower the jug down so that the steam wand is just below the milk surface but do not move it around otherwise it will create a thick foam on the top.
-Hold the jug firmly and watch for temperature dial rise to 150°F/65.5°C. The milk will swirl to produce a foam and increase in size.
-When milk reaches 150°F/65.5°C turn off the steam wand and remove jug
-Don't bang the jug on the counter hard this time like cappuccino instead tap it gently on the counter to remove any unwanted air bubbles and then gently swirl your milk jug a few times
-Hold the milk jug so that the spout is about 4 cm above the cup and pour the milk in steadily. As the volume within the cup increases, bring the jug as close to the surface of the coffee as possible whilst aiming to pour into the centre. Once the milk jug is almost touching the surface of the coffee, tilt the jug to speed up the rate of pour. The milk will hit the back of the cup and start creating patterns on the top.
Now you definitely know how to make patterns with latte art on your coffee.
